GRAND OPENING MILESTONE – NHYIRA SWISS-AFRICA FOUNDATION
On July 13, 2024, the Nhyira Swiss-Africa Foundation proudly marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of the center. This successful event brought together over 150 guests, including the regional chief, community leaders, families, and young people. The occasion offered an inspiring glimpse into the center’s facilities and programs, highlighting our growing dedication to empowering vulnerable youth. This achievement has strengthened our bond with the community and
laid a solid foundation for transformative partnerships and future growth.
OUR STORY
Established in 2015 by Mr. & Mrs. Davis and family, NHYIRA SWISS-AFRICA FOUNDATION is a non-profit
organization dedicated to providing support to vulnerable children and youth in Ghana.
Mr. & Mrs. Davis and family have always had a deep compassion for children, particularly vulnerable children. This
profound empathy was the driving force behind the creation of their project, which initially aimed to construct a
children’s home/orphanage.
The journey began with thorough research into the specific needs of vulnerable children and the best practices for
supporting them in Ghana. This research revealed the importance of addressing both the immediate and long-term
needs of these children.
ADDRESSING THE SHORT AND LONG TERM CHALLENGES
In Ghana, vulnerable children face significant challenges that impede their holistic development and integration into
society. Some of these challenges includes:
1. Poverty: Limits access to basic needs and education.
2. Child Labor: Prevents schooling and personal development.
3. Health Issues: Poor healthcare access and malnutrition hinder growth.
4. Abuse and Exploitation: Increased risk of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
5. Lack of Social Support: Absence of stable family environments.
6. Limited access to recreational activities
7. Unemployable Adults: The lack of quality education and necessary skills leads to high rates of unemployment
among these children when they reach adulthood.
Addressing these issues is essential for their well-being and future success.Traditional support structures often
struggle to meet the complex needs of these children, leaving many without access to essential resources. Our
program aims to address these gaps and provide a comprehensive support system for them.
As a result, we prioritized the establishment of an afterschool program that would include educational support, a
skill-building center and a recreational center.
After years of dedicated saving and generous donations from loved ones, they were able to acquire land in Malejor,
Accra. This land serves as the foundation for their ambitious and heartfelt project, which will grow and evolve to
better serve the children in need.
The foundation’s vision is to create a safe and supportive environment that empowers vulnerable children and youth.
We aim to help them excel academically, develop essential life skills, and engage in educational and recreational
activities that promote their physical and mental well-being. Our goal is to bridge the gap in assistance provided to
these children and youth, fostering a sense of community, resilience, and empowerment among these vulnerable
children.
CONSTRUCTION AND PLANNING
Ground research and planning paved the way for construction, which commenced in 2017. Since then, our dedicated
team has been working tirelessly to bring this project to fruition. We are excited to announce that the grand opening
is scheduled for July 13th, 2024.
